Meacham’s RV Offers a Unique & Affordable Way to Stay at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort

untitled-designI have always wanted to stay at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort! The problem was: I didn’t own an RV and I definitely didn’t want to sleep in a tent in Florida (one word: Geckos!).

My husband and I fell in love with the Ft. Wilderness Campground fifteen years ago on our honeymoon. We were staying at a resort close by but we learned that Ft. Wilderness offered campfire sing-a-longs with Chip & Dale, S’mores, and a Disney Movie each night. We had a great time that evening and found out there was an amazing restaurant at Ft. Wilderness and even a Dinner Show! Getting there by boat was even more fun! The Ft. Wilderness Resort is an enchanting place unlike any other at the Walt Disney World Resort.  It is truly the “Happiest Campground on Earth!”

Sadly, we didn’t have an achievable way to stay there ourselves. The cabins that are offered at Ft. Wilderness seem too remote and too expensive, we knew we would not enjoy a tent, and we didn’t own an RV…so we wrote Ft. Wilderness Campground off as a very unlikely possibility.

But not anymore!

Thanks to companies like Meacham’s RV, we can rent an affordable camper and they take care of all the details! Resort guests call and make a campsite reservation at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort & Campground, then you go to Meacham’s website and choose the camper of your dreams to rent for your vacation. Meacham’s delivers your camper straight to your site, sets everything up for you (including outdoor chairs and carpet mat) and even offers the option of a golf cart for your stay (Ft. Wilderness is a big big place…lots of walking if you’re not prepared!).

The campsites are very affordable and several of the camper options offer great value for your Disney vacation budget.  Especially if you have a large family!

I’ve been getting to know the family behind Meacham’s RV and it is my great privilege to interview them here on our site during our Grand Opening Celebration!

96198801_scaled_182x240Andrew Meacham and his wife, Carrie, own and manage every aspect of the company. They started Meachams Rv,  Inc. in 2011 with just one travel trailer as a rental. They had purchased a travel trailer while having a new home built. The housing market wasn’t doing well at the time and they had to sell their previous home at a much lower price than expected. They also had a new travel trailer payment to keep up so a friend suggested they rent it out…. And Meacham’s RV, Inc. began! They now have 30 + travel trailer rentals all owned by Meachams Rv. They work with professional vendors to clean, maintain and help deliver their product.

What is lowest cost package you offer for a family of 4?

32That would be our small camping package – (it actually sleeps up to 6) We currently only offer one camper in that package. It is our small hybrid camper 32. It also allows the customer to rent the tent/pop up sites.

The 7 night standard package includes delivery, set up, pick up, with all the linens. ($800 + sales tax at time of publication).

The Adventure package includes the standard package with a Golf cart ($1000+ sales tax )

Your website mentions that you have been awarded with Disney’s Official Vendor status. Tell us how you earned that accomplishment?

We recently became a preferred vendor with Disney in April 2016 . Disney recognized that we provided a product very much comparable to their resorts with a “Glamping”  camping style. We met with Disney and explained to them the process we go through to prepare our RV units for delivery to Fort Wilderness and how important it is to go above and beyond. We strive to exceed the customers’ expectations!

Which camper rental is your favorite and why?

Our favorite is camper 24, 25, and 26 as they are all the same camper. They have warm chocolate colors, a u-shaped large dinette, a little bit larger bathroom than most due to the door that leads to the outside, the rear bunkbed room with a pocket door that closes, and of course the outside kitchen with large refrigerator, sink, and two burner cook stoves. 24

Which camper would be best for the family that only wants to use it for sleeping and plans to be off adventuring all day/everyday of their trip?

One camper that works well for that is camper 31 because you can put it on a pop up site in the 1500 & 2000 loops! if you don’t plan on using shower or toilet (Disney Campground Has AMAZINGLY Clean and beautiful tiled bathrooms!) it expands and can create three queen size beds.  The dinette area and sofa make small beds as well and that makes it a little more affordable for a big family. Sleeps up to 10 people! This is a huge savings for larger families!

What makes you different than the other Camper Rentals in the Disney area?

Keeping with Disney standards, we only deliver our newest and best equipped units to Fort wilderness. We are always taking customers suggestions on any additions to the Rentals

We do offer our Adventure package that includes the golf cart rental delivered with your travel trailer. Being a family owned and operated company we oversee and have great pride in the product that we deliver. We would not deliver anything that we ourselves would not love to be there enjoying.

In fact, we personally camp at Fort Wilderness 3 to 6 times a year so we have first-hand experience camping on Disney property.

Why should families with young children choose Meacham’s RV Rental as opposed to your competitors?

My wife Carrie has a background in preschool teaching so we better understand the safety needs of young children. Most of our units have a bunk room or bunkbeds which works best for small children. Our campers 24,25,26,30 ,33 and 37 have j-cube sofas in back that can be used as a sofa or made in to single bunkbeds low to be floor. In every travel trailer we offer bed rails as well and we can also provide pack and play units.

What is the best area of the campground to park the camper and why?

We have found that families with small children are best suited to be in the 1400 loop. That area is within walking distance to the Meadows Trading Post store as well as the pool and Chip N Dale’s campfire sing-a-long/movie under the stars

What is your favorite thing to do at the Ft. Wilderness campground?

We like cruising in the golf cart at night and checking out all the other travel trailer decorations during holiday times
